THIS IS A GRANT-FUNDED POSITION

JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Under the supervision of the Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN), the Medical Assistant/Licensed Practical Nurse participates in clinical care related to a Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) grant. This position assists with the delivery of care at mobile clinic sites, primarily in Lake and Lauderdale counties, including but not limited to, providing information, assisting patients, recording medical histories, assisting with SDoH assessments, and performing preliminary assessments and physical tests. This position drives the Mobile Health Unit, assuring daily operational logs are complete, maintaining medical supplies, inventory, and performing preventive maintenance to keep medical equipment operating.


Responsibilities
  1. Drives the mobile health unit to the site of service, refuels as needed, and empties the gray water tank.
  2. Conducts patient health history assessment, obtains vitals, monitors patients for change in status, communicates findings to APRN, contributes to and implements care plans, and provides patient education.
  3. Performs finger sticks and draws blood for laboratory specimens according to protocol.
  4. Coordinates patient care, schedules patient appointments, triages patient phone calls, schedules referrals, and administers tests under clinician orders.
  5. Enters data into electronic medical record (EMR) system and assists with coding and billing.
  6. Assists patients with understanding treatment goals, identifies any barriers to treatment, and seeks to resolve any barriers to care.
  7. Conducts daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
  8. Assists the research team with obtaining data for grant reporting.
  9. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION: High School Diploma or GED OR successful completion of Vocational LPN program. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)

EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years of clinical experience (MA) OR two (2) years of clinical experience (LPN). Must have a valid Driver's License.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: CMA or LPN. Must be Certified or Registered in the State of Tennessee (Medical Assistant) or Licensed in Tennessee (LPN). Maintain BLS for Healthcare Provider CPR or CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer certification. (CERTIFICATION REQUIRED)
